Personalisation of learning is one of the “holy grails” of teaching and as iPads are primarily a personal device they fit very neatly with the concept of creating individualised, personal fitness programs.
This app contains a great collection of gym workouts and exercise routines which can be customised for each individual student.
Inspire walking, running or riding with this app (its made for the iPhone but works on the iPad). Students can track their activities and workouts to set goals, check their stats and reflect on their achievements.
Fitness in 7 minutes, 7 times a week. This gamified approach to fitness is designed for adults but would be suitable for older students. Students start off with 3 lives and everytime time they skip a day they loose a “heart” – miss too many and the game starts over again. Last the distance for 7 months and become a 7/7 champion.
This workout is works on the same principle as “Seven” but it is designed specifically for children. It includes high intensity interval training that focus on Endurance, Strength and
Flexibility – all with cute graphics
This app is nicknamed “Pandora for gym rats”. Rather than spending hours finding just the right music to get kids moving this app has it all for you with more than 45 genres and stations. The music is even sorted but beats per minute if you want to set a specific pace and you can create your own playlists or use one of their custom mixes or DJ-curated playlists. It’s free and there are so many ways this music could be used, students could even create their own individual training music!
This is a really fun and funky way to get students running using a music based game. To level up in the game and students have to run and keep to the beat of the music. If they succeed they collect points and move on to the next level – personalised training to music.
There are 3 apps in this series CFit Yoga, Cfit Dance and CFit XTrain for $2.99 each. Each is full of colour and music and contain series of lessons and activities designed to improve the fitness of our younger learners in 10 minute games style sessions.
