QR or Quick Response Codes are similar to the bar codes used in the supermarket. They can store a variety of information and act as a link between the real and virtual worlds.
All you need to do is download a QR scanner from the app store. There is a variety available – try a free one first
Then you need to create some QR Codes. There are a number of sites using either your iPad of computer and you need is a URL link and you can crerate a code to almost anything – documents, audio, video, map reference, phone number…anything that has a URL link.
Here a few of my favourite sites to create your own QR Codes
A simple, effective generator that creates Codes from a huge variety of data types. Make sure you check the list of codes down the side because you can not only create codes for videos and documents but email addresses, Google Map locations and many more.
This is a very creative code generator as it lets you add an image or logo into the center of your code.
“– when a picture is worth a hundred characters”
A great generator – you type in the text which then becomes a QR Code. When the code is scanned the message is read back.
This generator is not as adaptable as QR Stuff, but it does let you change the colours etc – like on this sheet.
A very simple way to make stylish QR Codes that are actually embedded into the image. As they say…”don’t be square”.
If you want to make some incredibly fancy QR codes with everything from beveled edges, shadows or even inner or outer glows…..then this is the site for you. Colourful and easy.
